We are so grateful for the incredible support shown at our Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon 💙
Out of our 47 dedicated volunteers, 32 come directly from our community—including several of our own seniors. Even more exciting, 16 of those individuals joined us in 2025, bringing fresh energy and generosity to our center.
This past year alone, our volunteers contributed an amazing 626.75 hours of service. That time reflects countless acts of kindness, connection, and care that truly make a difference every single day.
We were also proud to recognize two outstanding volunteers:
✨ Timmy Hamilton – for contributing the most volunteer hours in 2025 with an incredible 282.5 hours
✨ Katie George – for her ongoing dedication to distributing senior food boxes each month, totaling 70.5 hours
To all of our volunteers—whether you’ve been with us for years or just started—thank you. You are the heart of our center, and we appreciate you more than words can express!

Ambulance fraud is not always about "fake" trips. Sometimes it can look like billing Medicare for rides that weren’t medically necessary, using ambulances as a "taxi" for routine trips, or even faking paperwork to make a patient appear more seriously ill than they are. Dialysis patients are frequent targets. Other red flags include overcharging for services (known as upcoding), inflating mileage, and paying for patient referrals. These fraudulent activities waste millions of taxpayer funds. Knowing what to look for can help you spot and report it.
✅ Always check your Medicare Summary Notice (MSN) or insurance statement.
✅ Make sure the date, distance, and reason for the ride match what actually happened.
✅ Watch out for companies offering "free" rides to appointments in exchange for your ID.
✅ If you suspect fraud, you can contact the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) at 1-877-808-2468 or visit smpresource.org/you-can-help/report-fraud/
