🚨 SLAM THE SCAM WEEK 🚨
This week is a reminder to protect our seniors from fraud — especially scams involving Medicare and gift cards.
Scammers are targeting older adults by:
❌ Pretending to be Medicare representatives
❌ Claiming your benefits will be canceled
❌ Asking for personal information over the phone
❌ Demanding payment using gift cards (Amazon, Apple, Visa, etc.)
⚠️ Remember: Medicare will NEVER call you to ask for gift cards or threaten to cancel your benefits.
If someone asks you to:
• Pay with gift cards
• Share your Medicare number
• Provide bank or Social Security information over the phone
• Act immediately or “keep it a secret”
👉 It’s a SCAM.
💙 Help protect the seniors in your life:
✔️ Encourage them to hang up on suspicious calls
✔️ Never give personal information to unsolicited callers
✔️ Report fraud to 1-800-MEDICARE or the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov
