At Pendleton Senior & Family Services, Inc., the local seniors of Pendleton County, WV, are being offered a convenient way to access fresh and nutritious fruits and vegetables. The organization is providing farmers’ market vouchers to eligible seniors, allowing them to buy produce from the local farmers’ market. The program is designed to enhance the health and well-being of local seniors by providing them with healthy food options. The vouchers offer a certain dollar amount to be spent on fresh produce, which is redeemable at participating local farmers’ markets. The program also benefits local farmers by promoting the purchase of their products directly from the source. By offering the vouchers, PSFSI is taking a step towards preventing hunger and malnutrition among seniors in the county.
Farmers’ Market Vouchers may be exchanged for fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey.
